I am a visual artist, working across a range of disciplines including drawing, sculpture and video, to create artworks in response to architectural locations. My work often involves journeying to buildings or places that interest me for varying reasons to do with location, context, design and function. The journey to and from the chosen location is often part of the work. For DRIFT I have chosen to show the short film DAY TRIP which is all about a day's return journey, from Glasgow to a Northumberland farm - city to countryside - the journey's start, finish and points in between recorded through video and drawings executed en route. I'd never made this journey before and I chose to travel by train and bicycle as it seemed like more of an adventure to travel in that way - connecting with the surroundings that I passed through. A voyage of discovery.
