Katie Potapoff
Interwoven materials, both the materials which comprise our landscape and the materials that provoke the thinking and making responses of the artist, are imbued with intimacy and texture. They can be used as imposition or invitation, can fuel the ego-centric or bring together a community of like-minds. Through acts of intuitive creative practice, I explore methods of gathering from the marginalia and endeavour to reconsider their distinct qualities into ever-shifting constellations of meaning. 'thoughts on gathering', is a poem film which uses words and objects to meander through a reflection on the act of gathering.
Katie Hart Potapoff is a multidisciplinary artist and writer born in Canada and while residing in Scotland, is researching her practice-led PhD, titled With an Attentiveness Towards intimacy and Texture: Exploring a Sense of Land and Place Through Creative Practices, at DJCAD, University of Dundee.
