I paint what I feel, not what I see. For me, this is the foundation of my approach. Most of my work is produced 'en plain air', and I like to allow the environment, and particularly the weather, to play an important role in the finished pieces. I don't always try to replicate the colours visible in the scene, rather, try to use colour to convey the 'feeling' that comes from within. All in all, I don't set out to produce a photorealistic representation, rather, to create images that have energy, spontaneity and feeling.
