Glistening surface ripples, rolling sandy ridges and sparkling pebbles. The restless, moving breath of the sea as living nature in the flow of the tide were themes explored in ‘That Sinking Feeling’. The fragile and precious nature of the sea is shown through the delicate stitching, use of beading and exposed gold and silver threads. Yet beneath the waves man’s pollution threatens the life of the sea. The image of the disposable Covid facemask acts as a symbol for which fill the oceans and as a metaphor for the sickness of pollution and threat that this brings.
