In this dreamlike, semi-abstract image, I was thinking of how humans are inextricably tangled in our environment. Images of ghost nets reference the nets that are now lost at sea, and threaten wildlife (especially cetaceans) with entanglement and ultimately starvation.

A ghostly boat hovers above the cage-like structure in the foreground. The cage/net could be both protective and threatening. Stormy colour overshadows the picture – thin, watery paint is weathered and scratched, the materiality of the painting as object is also important to me. I'm aiming for a see-saw between abstract and figurative.
