This piece is a mixed media piece consisting of an etching from a zinc plate on Somerset Brilliant White paper with fragments of another etching placed on top. I always reuse any parts of prints from my experimenting process, and incorporate them into new work.

This artwork is an image that is reminiscent of my many travels across the wilds of Scotland, but instead of the feeling of freedom I usually experience when exploring these beautiful settings, there is a sense of uncertainty, ambiguity and of not being quite right.

I feel most people are now concerned about the human effect on the environment and the impact it will have on our lives, landscape and future. We are now more aware of what is happening to our coastlines and what we need to do to help preserve the beauty that we have here. We can no longer be calm about what happens next. During this strange time, we have seen the positive effects of lower pollution levels due to less human activity.  Hopefully this is the time now to bring change, for new policies to be put in place and for us to be more considered about our actions, so that many more generations will be able to enjoy this beautiful planet.
