Tamara Rogovic
'Self-portrait' withdraws visual imagination from the 'Liberty bridge' in Novi Sad, Serbia, which has been destroyed through various violent attacks, and once again in the week of my birth. This painting, the first of its kind in the series, represents identity exploration and meanings of liberation, related to nomadism and notions of where do we originate from versus where do we belong. It also represents constant struggle to reach other part of one self, whilst trying to reach others and their metaphysical fractures. It is a work about love, forgiveness, peace and perhaps ironically, non-violence.
