Last Portrai is an analogue photographic print on fibre-based darkroom paper; the image consists of four different 5x4 large format black and white negatives, made using contact printing technique in the darkroom. The photographic negatives were made a few summers ago in Singapore. Being mindful of my gran's age and the subsequent deterioration of health, I brought my large format camera back home from Scotland with the intention of making these portraits. One afternoon, I made these four negatives over the course of an hour; the duration allowed her to become gradually at ease before the camera. Over the hour, my gran dozed off, got distracted, anticipated, smiled, conversed, amongst other gentle expressions. These experiences later informed my decision in the making of this print; a contact print as final image, illustrating the various subtlety of countenances. This submitted print was made on the day of her funeral.
