From the SHAPE SHIFTERS series 20/21 Laser cut birch ply & wood block relief print.
Lockdown has slowed the creative process but not halted it, time has been restorative and allowed me to consider re-occurring motifs in my work spanning the last thirty years. The circle, sphere and single entity have continually developed into 'shape-shifting' personal worlds which are suspended in form and colour. Most recently, digital drawings have evolved into relief wood block prints. I employ 'Shape Shifters' as a metaphor where pixel built images have the ability to change their form into laser engraved timber wafers, transformed again with rolled black ink and born onto long-strand fibrous paper by the giant Columbian press. Tradition and technology dovetail in a symbiotic relationship.
