During these troubled times with lockdowns and access to Edinburgh Printmakers limited, I have been developing a type of monotone print that I have never seen anybody else use. In my studio at home, I have a small proofing press and a tin of black printing ink and I have been able to produce lino prints by blotting and progressive cutting and printing. These have usually been small in scale. This print belongs to a series of works, including paintings, which might be called 'One Thing as an Other', where I have been able to include familiar modern objects by turning them into human figures. A companion print to 'Farmer' called 'Car Lady' shows a woman whose hat, shoes, earrings, bags and features all derive from automobiles.
