I work within an extended painting practice. My work is driven by a personal interest in mental health, the practice is a conduit to my own health. It contains emotional fragments of information imprinted within my memory, the act of making allows me to process these, in a way that cannot be put into words. I am intrigued by what we don't know we know. Memories are continually filtered through replay and self-editing, often distorting or decaying over time. The layers within our memory often obscure insignificant moments but these tiny happenings support our tacit knowledge. The work is a balancing act of memory and imagination which creates an intersection between one thing and another. I explore a binary tension that is fundamental to life and death, provisional and permanent. By hinting at something and nothing I acknowledge the knowledge.
