I enjoy working with recycled and reclaimed materials, especially paper. Paper is derived from living matter. Trees which are crucial to the survival of humanity and the environment are often disregarded as a mere source to providing the pulp from which most of our paper products are made. Products which are often designed only to be of value for a very short time. Environmental chaos and vanishing resources are the current legacy of our culture. It is time to accept diversity, to alter perceptions and to no longer regard items as mere detritus or disposable commodities. A simple mass-produced magazine - printed for a single purpose, has so much more potential. These pieces began as a series of 2D mixed media drawings. Realising these images resembled small organic creatures, further experimental developments saw them transform into 3D sculptures, each one unique in its design.
